Unsatisfied With Your Shower Design? Consider This

It’s very easy to think of your bathroom or en suite as a place you’re not going to spend much time in, so you can fix it up and perfect its minor flaws later on if you want to. Of course, that’s totally your prerogative; it all depends on your taste.

But we’d argue that bathrooms and restrooms are often much more important than they appear. Odds are, you use one as soon as you wake up and before you go to bed. You freshen up there, and have me time, feeling totally private. You get to wash and feel renewed in there, even if that’s just a cold shower after a run or a long soak in the bath when you’re feeling a little bit rough.

As such, if you’re unsatisfied with any element of your bathroom, it’s good to prioritize its development a little. In this post, we’ll discuss various influences your shower/en suite could benefit from.

Renewed Shower Unit & Shower Heads

If the shower unit is old or unfit for the purpose of a comfortable wash, you’ll feel annoyed. That might be influenced by a weak water stream, or it could be the pressure just doesn’t wake you up the way it used to, or the unit’s so old it hums a little whenever you switch it on and sprays water at odd angles. A small upgrade here can feel massive without needing to gut the whole room, so check if this won’t help first. You might also implement suggestions more appropriate for the room, such as a rainfall head that doesn’t blast water like a pressure washer but still has that satisfying weight to it.

Wet Room Conversions

A wet room can be very useful once you set it up right, which means making the entire space waterproof and slightly sloped so the water runs where it should. You can easily do this with sealed tiles. The benefit here is that a wet room can be more functional, practical, and change how the space is used, especially in smaller homes or apartments where every square foot counts.

You don’t have to lose a bath to make this work either, especially if you already prefer showers and want to open up the space a bit. Getting rid of that step-in tray and building outwards can instantly make the room feel bigger, less cramped, and way more modern. Moreover, it’s easier to clean, less prone to mold or buildup in hard-to-reach corners, and generally feels more high-end even if the fittings are relatively standard.

Privacy Dividers & Basin Size

Even if you live alone, it’s nice to define the space a little and to add privacy. Dividers in the form of frosted glass, half walls, and built-in shelving can separate the toilet from the main shower area, or break up a long en suite so it doesn’t just feel like a row of utilities along one wall. Basin size can also be more impactful than it gets credit for, as smaller sinks with barely any counter space can feel a bit hotel-esque, not to mention irritating when you’re trying to lay out skincare, toothpaste, razors, and all the other bits for your shower. Readjusting the orientation of these fixtures can help you enjoy the shower experience you really want.

With this advice, we hope you can more easily consider alternatives even if your shower design is a touch frustrating right now.
