Back in March I reported on the inaugural breakfast buffet event at the Australian College of Applied Education, and this week it was time for another batch of culinary arts students to showcase their work. Once again, the event was held in the College Cafe and open to the public at a cost of only $14.
Although I work at the college, I paid for my ticket along with the other customers. Proceeds from the event will be used to support ACAE students participating in the upcoming WA Oceanafest 2015 culinary competition, which I will be reporting on at a later date.
All items you see here were made in-house by the students, even the bacon & sausages!
A breakfast buffet simply has to start with a plate (or two) of something hot…
…unless you’re into that strange, healthy stuffย – but then why wouldย you come to a buffet?!?

There’s always a beautiful selection of bread and pastries at any ACAE buffet.
The College Cafe has started selling its own range of jams and sauces, and they are much better than anything from the supermarket. The tomato & fennel sauce is particularly good if you can get your hands on some, although the last batch sold out very quickly (two bottles made it into my fridge!)
One of the perks (or dangers) of working at ACAE is the easy availability of awesome sweet treats.
Chef trainer Paul demonstrates the finer points of omelette making…
…made to order with your choice of filling…
…and the end results were delicious!
Pancakes were also cooked to order…
…with lots of decadent toppings to choose from.
The hard working students have every right to be proud of another fantastic buffet.
ACAE is Perthโs premiere cookery & hospitality school and is located at 641 Wellington Street, across from Perth Arena and Kings Square. The College Cafe is open from 7am to 3pm Monday to Friday, and is a great place to get a reasonably priced coffee, breakfast or lunch.
Keep an eye on my Twitter,ย Instagram and Facebook for details of the next buffet – you won’t find a better value breakfast, and if you work in the Perth CBD this is an event not to be missed.
