Renay and I were recently invited to a “Tastes of Adelphi” long table wine dinner at Adelphi Grill in the Parmelia Hilton Perth.
The first of four such dinners to be held this year, we were treated to a selection of wines from Adelaide winemaker O’Leary Walker Wines and “shared plate” versions of Adelphi Grill dishes.
O’Leary Walker founder David O’Leary was on hand to tell us all about the wines throughout the night, and was a very entertaining and interesting speaker.
Entree was made up of three dishes, including this pork belly with scallops, pineapple & cucumber salsa and pineapple crisps.
This dish was seared salmon with apple slaw, shiso crumbs, wasabi & yuzu dressing and lime mayo.
Main course comprised four dishes, the first being chef Chad Miskiewicz’s signature “fiery fillet” which has a huge peppery kick and never disappoints.
I hadn’t tried the confit duck leg with maple roasted sweet potato, parsnips, garlic & spinach before, but it was rich and moist – one of my favourite dishes of the night.
“Adelphi’s seafood delight” features creamy spicy prawns, scallops, squid, fish & rice. The fourth main course was wild mushroom linguine with broccolini, lemon ricotta & blistered tomatoes.
To finish was a platter of three desserts – chocolate tart with roasted peanuts, salted caramel & vanilla ice cream (amazing), apple & rhubarb crumble with fruits of the forest ice cream and vanilla bean panna cotta with stewed strawberries.
There are three more wine dinners scheduled for later this year – see below for information on dates and how to book.
Thanks to all at Adelphi Grill, Parmelia Hilton Perth and O’Leary Walker Wines for a delicious and most enjoyable evening!
