Review: McGriddles Arrive Nationwide at Macca’s

McGriddles are here! After a test in some Sydney McDonald’s restaurants, the popular breakfast item has finally been rolled out nationwide.

The familiar McMuffin outer-layer is replaced with maple-infused pancakes and also the egg component with more of a scrambled / fluffy egg disc. There’s an immediately familiar smell of hotcakes as you open the bag, and you feel these are going to be deliciously comforting. Thankfully, they are.

The pancakes are not too sweet or soggy, and the egg isn’t slimy. I tried both the sausage and bacon varieties, and actually preferred the bacon one as it ate a little less dry. But they’re both great, and I didn’t feel like I needed a shower afterwards as you often can with a McMuffin.

These aren’t cheap at $8.65ish each on their own, but they’re different and certainly worth trying. I expect they will be very popular, so I wouldn’t wait until the weekend to hit the drive through if you’re keen.

Great job Macca’s. Next week: The Big Arch!!
