Morsels & The Shelf Life

Review: McDonald’s Big Arch

I’ve made no secret about my excitement for the McDonald’s Big Arch, especially after the delights of the McGriddles. Not because I’m expecting miracles, but I’m obsessed with big brand stuff, and have been very curious about a new burger released into multiple markets (most recently the UK). Given the legendary status of Big Mac sauce, I had high hopes in particular for the new “signature” sauce.

So what’s in it? Two quarter pounder patties, three slices of “white cheddar”, crispy onions, slivered onions, pickles, lettuce and Big Arch sauce. It looks like a Mega Mac and tastes almost identical, unfortunately.

The fried onions get a bit lost, so it’s really all about the sauce. Which tastes very much like Big Mac sauce but with a bit of extra tang. The patties were dry, and I found myself wishing I’d ordered a Big Mac. Boo hoo.

It’s certainly worth trying, especially if you’re a Big Mac fan. I’m very surprised by how underwhelming it is. It’s not bad at all, it’s just not different.

Try again, Macca’s.
