Pemberley of Pemberton will celebrate one of Western Australia’s most important crops this summer with the launch of a new farm-based dining experience, In the Rows: Potatoes at Pemberley, to be held on Valentine’s Day, Saturday 14 February.
Potatoes have been grown in the Eastbrook region for generations, and Pemberley owner David Radomiljac represents the third generation of his family to farm them. David has been growing potatoes in the region for close to 50 years.

This season, Pemberley is growing around nine different potato varieties, many destined for supermarket shelves and for hot chips produced by WA Chip in Manjimup. After a delayed planting due to prolonged spring rains, the crop is now moving confidently into harvest.
“The late spring rains pushed everything back, but once summer arrived the conditions were ideal,” said Davide. “The warmth has really helped the crop along. The potatoes are growing evenly, the yields are strong and the quality is excellent. It’s been very pleasing to see how well they’ve come through.”
At Pemberley of Pemberton, showcasing the breadth of on-farm production has become a cornerstone of its agritourism offering. Alongside wine grapes and wine, the property is home to beef cattle, truffles, marron and potatoes, with a calendar of experiences designed to connect visitors with how food is grown in the Southern Forests.

“With a calendar full of wine-focused events, we felt it was time to put the spotlight on the humble spud,” said David. “That’s how In the Rows: Potatoes at Pemberley came about. Potatoes are such a versatile ingredient and such a big part of our farming story.”
The event will begin with a guided walk through the vineyard and potato paddock, offering guests the chance to see the crop growing in the ground and view the harvester, before returning to the cellar door for a five-plate dinner centred around potatoes in a variety of styles, including a dessert featuring potato.

“We love sharing how produce is grown here in the Southern Forests and giving people a peek behind the curtain,” said David. “Many consumers are quite disconnected from where their food comes from and the people behind it. Events like this create a real sense of connection. Visitors respond to the authenticity of our agritourism experiences at Pemberley. It’s honest, it’s hands-on, and it reflects the reality of farming.”
In the Rows: Potatoes at Pemberley will take place on Saturday 14 February, starting at 4:30pm. Tickets are $110 per person and include the farm walk, five potato-focused dishes and paired wines.
