Here’s some more Singapore pictures, this time from my solo expedition to Satay Street at Lau Pa Sat hawker centre. An essential street-food destination, it’s as much about atmosphere than the food itself. Running from 7pm until late, satay platters can be purchased from around ten different vendors.

As you can see it’s a busy (and hot) place to visit. It’s also a challenge if you’re on your own, as seating is in demand and you can lose your spot when you move to order. Many vendors have a minimum that’s enough to feed four, so going in a group is definitely recommended. Cash is essential, and you can expect to eat for around A$20 each.

The vendors are very friendly and happy to pose for photos, but of course they want your business so you’ll need to be tough if you’re weak like me. I even had one kindly offer me extra fire for my photos, although I’m not sure what that did to his satay…
