Morsels & The Shelf Life

Cabin Fever: Fast Food Fancy with Normal Van and Brendan Pratt

My second Cabin Fever event, and one from which my body took several days to recover, was Fast Food Fancy, presented by Normal Van in Margaret River.

A collaboration between chefs Rob Webster of Normal Van and WA legend Brendan Pratt, this decadent feast is easily the richest meal I’ve ever consumed. When chefs of that calibre suggest they might have overdone it, you know to have your cardiologist on speed-dial for the morning.

Flick through my pics to see the menu and the dishes in their full glory. But suffice to say, no piece of crumbed meat, be it schnitzel or servo sausage, will now pass my lips without an added splodge of foie gras. What do you mean, this Scotch egg is made from the flesh of a mere land animal? Very well, use its blood to enrichen my dessert. And where’s my bone marrow spoon?

In all seriousness, this was a most enjoyable evening and a meal unlike any I’ve experienced before (and probably shouldn’t again). A great time was had by all, and it was pleasing to see the chefs having fun while doing what they do best. This kind of collaboration is a perfect example of what makes Cabin Fever a festival we are very lucky to have.

Thanks to Brendan, Rob and Jess for a truly unforgettable event.
