Today I was treated to a preview of Asado’s Taste of Perth menu, sampling two of the four dishes available at this weekend’s festival.
My lunch started with a very good coffee, made with Asado’s custom house blend from my favourite roaster Five Senses.
First I tried the pig head taco with slaw, chipotle aioli and crackling. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten pork this soft before.
This is a beautifully fresh dish, don’t be intimidated by the name!
The lime parfait with grilled chilli pineapple, mint and popping candy is sure to be one of the hits of the festival. It’s a great flavour combination, with the popping candy subtly alerting you to its presence while you’re busy admiring the deep lime flavour of the parfait.
I’m not sure whether I’ll be trying the tripe & house sausage but I’ll definitely be lining up for Asado’s “icon dish” of blackened chicken with chimichurri.
Can’t wait for tomorrow!
